Loughborough based designer Michael James Gilfillan; creative head behind ‘MJG’ is set to showcase his Evening wear collection at MYFDA 2010. Speaking to MYFDA about his design inspiration, Michael said: “The inspiration for my collection has been driven forward by my interest in medieval armour. The castle of Robin Hood in Nottingham, particularly the museum; home to past armour uniforms is where floods of design ideals began and the start of my collection was formed.”

After completing a fashion studies degree at Lincoln U\niversity, Michael has designed and manufactured several collections. “I love to see my designs made up and presented on models and having no boundaries; creating what I believe to be a wearable art.” Michael believes studying A-Level art helped him keep an open mind and look at fashion design and garment construction from a various perspectives. This fluidity in his approach has been visually translated into his unusually captivating collection.

Michael will be showcasing his Evening wear collection alongside 24 other finalists at the Birmingham Conservatoire on 23rd October 2010.
